Sparkle - "There's always room for improvement"

Continuing in our series with the Predraft coverage Fredrik "Sparkle" Jurek speaks about his past couple of months as a key member of the Stockholm Magnetik franchise as he looks forward onto this weekends draft. Fredrik being one of five members of the Counter-Strike: Source team is most known for using the sniper rifle known as the AWP. Getting key picks off of the opposition, meaning a possible win of the round.

Though after a poor performance in Los Angeles against Chicago Chimera in the World Finals no one is safe going into the draft, has Fredrik done enough in his opinion to keep himself representing his capital city? Below you can read the Pre-Draft feature with the one and only Sparkle! Enjoy!

How do you feel you as an individual performed in Season 1?

I think I did okay, of course there's always room for improvement but as a whole I'd say I did okay.

How do you think you performed as a team in general?

Let's face it, We didn't do too well. We won our first match vs Sydney but then lost our second vs Chimera. Sure, they did go all the way and placed 1st in the World Finals but still that's no excuse.

What experience would you say that you gained during your stay in the CGS?

Alot of experience has come in terms of playing under pressure I think. Playing in a studio on live TV is a bit nerve wrecking in the beginning.

This season the CGS added a twist to the way that the Counter-Strike: Source players are drafted with the General Manager having the opportunity to drop and pick up individuals instead of a whole team, how did you first feel about this ruling?

I think it's exciting. Every player has to really perform well to get the GMs' attention. And that isn't always just by getting all the frags. Mentality, teamplay and communication with the rest of the team are just a few of the different qualities the GMs will look for in a player.

Would you say this is a good or bad move? Obviously for a team to succeed they need chemistry so would it be difficult to get on with someone brought straight in?

It's an interesting move, let's leave it at that. It is true that a team will need chemistry to perform good but I guess the GMs will choose players that are able to adapt to new situations within the team.

What sort of impression do you think you made on the General Manager: Emil Christensen during your time in Magnetik?

I think I've made a good impression. I get along well with him and he's easy to talk to if there's any problem. So I can't see I've made anything but a good impression.

Do you think you have done enough to keep yourself as a protected player? And why

Hmm kinda hard to say. We've just played 2 official matches and those were in LA. I guess I did alright in those games so I can only hope that's enough to get me protected.

What sort of training have you been doing as an individual to keep your skill level up in Counter-Strike: Source?

Playing pugs but for the most part deathmatching. I think it's a really good way to keep your aim sharp. I do some deathmatching every day, be it for 30 mins or for 2 hours.

If you could go back to September and relive your experience would there be anything that you would of done differently?

No! We won the combine and got ourselves drafted so I wouldnt want to change anything and risk not being drafted.

Coming into the combine, who would you say is your hardest opponent that could attend the event?

I really have no idea. I think Salvo have been playing good in practice so I'll pick them.

If you do get brought back into Stockholm Magnetik for another season, how will you obtain your goal of obviously winning the world finals?

By playing, playing and playing.

What would you say promotes yourself to the General Manager as a gamer and a person?

Hmm difficult question. I think what promotes me is that I am really motivated and committed in trying to make this team number 1.
